A major Dorchester County employer celebrated the completion of a $300 million expansion Friday, an investment that will nearly double its capacity to make giant electrodes for the steel industry. Showa Denko Carbon near Ridgeville marked its expanded facilities with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Gov. Nikki Haley and company officials participated. Clint Lucas, senior vice president of administration, said the company employs about 254 workers but plans to add 60 more.
